Villa Florentine is home base for The Nearby Café and its executive director, A. D. Coleman, who, under his full name, Allan Douglass Coleman, writes and publishes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction widely in the U.S. and abroad. In 2008 he received a nomination for the Pushcart Prize for a poem in his 2007 collection Like Father Like Son.

Villa Florentine's current projects include the inauguration of a small-press imprint, Villa Florentine Press. Meanwhile, we present an archive of Coleman's creative writing, visual and performance art, information about this (almost) historic structure, and more -- including documentation of the activities of The Derrière Garde and his mysterious accomplice, Pink Haitun.
