Questions Concerning My Prospective
Operation on My Common Cataract
by Earl Coleman
Whether I seek vision, or to
contemplate
my fate, I have no choice but let them operate.
For Ive been blind to banner headlines and yet
signatured a print so fine a dozen lawyers
arabesqued upon a single line. Sighted,
in the polling place, have I not levered
into power candidates so dimly limned,
comparing each to each, that theyre identical,
but ask you, every one, if we will blindly
put our faith in him? I know Ive focused
on the check-out line itself, but not upon
the price Ive paid for this convenience
theyve seduced me with. Am I too late?
