Stubborn Pine: The Writings of Earl Coleman

Earl Coleman (1916-2009) was a 1999 and 2001 nominee for the coveted Pushcart Prize, and a 2003 nominee for Best American Short Stories. This poet, fiction writer, essayist, and former publisher brought more than sixty years' worth of writing experience to his work. This site is dedicated to his work and to his memory.

Coleman, who passed away on October 12, 2009, published his poetry and short fiction widely throughout the United States and in England. Stubborn Pine offers ample selections from a half-century's worth of his widely published poetry, fiction (including both short stories and novels), jeremiads, a bibliography-in-progress, and more. For information about his latest book, Like Father Like Son (2007), a collaboration with Allan Douglass Coleman, click here.

This site will remain online permanently as an archive of Earl's creative work and a tribute to his memory.
