In
1996, the writer Allan Douglass Coleman and
the Finnish photographer Nina Sederholm began
an extended stay in the American southwest.
Each underwent the process of adaptation to
a radically unfamiliar space, light, climate,
and cultural mix.The resulting collaboration
bears the title spine. By turns calm
and ominous, joyous and melancholy, intimate
and lonely, it constitutes a meditation on
the survival of the human spirit in overwhelming
solitude. |
