Who's Who at the Cyberarchive

This Photography Criticism CyberArchive comes to you as the result of a team effort. Those involved so far:

  • John R. Alley, this project's start-up and ongoing Webmaster, handles all of the Photography Criticism CyberArchive's technical aspects and, in consultation with Executive Director A. D. Coleman, created this site's internal structure and visual appearance. John, a photographer who lives and works in Richmond, Virginia, is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Richmond and the head of the photography program at a local high school. Pursuing a career in web design, he holds an M.F.A. in Photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Since early 2000, he has also served as the webmaster for The Nearby CafŽ, a number of whose sections and features reflect his skills. You can find out more about John by visiting him at his own website.
  • A. D. Coleman, Executive Director of this project (and of The Nearby CafŽ), is a widely published critic, historian, and theorist of photography. He conceived the Photography Criticism CyberArchive in the fall of 2001. In his words, "The CyberArchive grew out of my thinking about the material I posted on the web from 1995 through 2001 as part of my own long-running online newsletter at The Nearby CafŽ -- C: the Speed of Light. It's a logical solution to a problem I chewed on for years." You can find out more about Allan from his Author's Page here in the CyberArchive, or by visiting his home page at Adcoleman.com.
  • Jasmine Gartner, Managing Editor of this project, came on board in fall 2002. She holds a doctorate in anthropology from the University of New Mexico, where she studied with Thomas Barrow and wrote her dissertation on the photography community 1960-1990 as a microculture. You can find out more about Jasmine from her Author's Page here in the CyberArchive.
  • Donna-Lee Phillips, an Archive Author herself, does much of our keying-in of historic and out-of-print texts and scanning of images. Formerly a photographer, curator, and editor associated with Lew Thomas in the Bay Area's fertile photography scene of the 1970s and '80s, she now lives and works out of the mainstream in northern California. You can find out more about Donna-Lee from her Author's Page here in the CyberArchive.

What's What: Unsolicited Testimonials

  • Mudra Typesetters, from Pondicherry, India, does the rest of our keying-in of historic and out-of-print texts, and more recent essays that previously were undigitized. We can't recommend them too highly; we give them top ratings for speed, efficiency, accuracy, and price -- not to mention cheerfulness and effective customer relations. If you have typed or printed material (in English or numerous other languages) that you need converted to digital text files, contact Mr. G. E. Satheesh there, and please tell him we sent you.
  • Our host ISP for the Photography Criticism CyberArchive is ipowerweb; good service, great price.
  • Online subscriptions, book sales, and other electronic funds transfers go through 2checkout.com.
  • Domain-name registrations for the project are handled by newcomers A1BestDomains. Ask for the estimable Phil Shreffler, and tell him we sent you. Unbeatably swift, efficient, courteous customer service, lots of extras, and an admirably low price.
  • We work with the Adobe software line -- Adobe GoLive, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe ImageReady -- to create and manage this site, and we're all Mac addicts.
