Garden Readings

The Garden Variety Poetry Series 2002

Readings: First Series (Summer 2002)

Saturday, June 1, 2002: The Sepoy Rebellion, "Mint Condition Poetry." Wil Wynn, Marguerite Maria Rivas, J. J. Hayes, and Allan Douglass Coleman, founding members of this Isand-based collective, performed solo and ensemble to inaugurate the series and christen this space as a performance venue. Undocumented.

Sunday, July 14, 2002: Dancer, choreographer, and video artist Amy Greenfield read from her recently published book We too are alive -- a series of meditations on the Twin Towers disaster -- and other works. Click on any thumbnail to see larger versions; click on the links to play mpegs.

Sunday, August 11, 2002: The unduplicable and ebullient Malachi McCormick, founder and publisher of the renowned Stone Street Press (just down the block from here), read some of his translations from the Gaelic, and some writings of his own. We had a display of samples of his beautiful and extraordinarily inexpensive handmade calligraphed limited-edition books.
