Like Father Like Son includes lyric poetry in two related yet distinctively different voices on such subjects as birth, death, aging, love, sex, marriage, family, and politics. Many of these poems have appeared previously in such journals as ACM, Atlantic Review, The Cape Rock, Michigan Quarterly Review, Nimrod, Pearl, Small Pond, Whiskey Island, and other print and online journals. This book constitutes a rare collaboration between two generations of poets from the same family, bringing their separate perspectives to bear in experiences common to both and sometimes shared.

| This quality paperback has an unusual two-cover design with fold-in French flaps, devised by Allan Douglass Coleman. Each poet's contribution occupies half the volume. Each of these two sections contains more than 50 poems and, in addition, a lengthy interview with the poet on the evolution of his writing, issues of craft, personal history, and other subjects. Earl Coleman's interview, conducted by Wayne Lanter, originally appeared in the journal River King. Allan Coleman's "self-interview" is previously unpublished.
