Untitled (Alien Dance)
by Anonymous
medium: pencil and ink on paper

| This is our sole example of the work of this unidentified artist. The four presumably female figures, apparently dressed in leotards and dance shoes, posed in classic dance/dancercise positions, either wear sunglasses or manifest the hallmark oversize eyes common to depictions of space aliens. That they seem to dance in outer space, in our solar system, as indicated by the presence of Earth, the moon, the sun, and Saturn in the background, reinforces the latter interpretation. It is attached to a standard sheet of 8-1/2x11" paper, folded in half, resembling a gift card. Found tucked into a discarded textbook at the Muddy Cup, a coffeehouse on Van Duzer Street in Stapleton, Staten Island, on January 2, 2005. It measures 7-3/4x5-1/2 inches (19.25x14 cm). |
