Provocative visual constructions from this Dutch artist (1942-2005). Ruiter here recreates iconic paintings and photographs by forming recognizable versions of them out of charcoal. This series made its web debut in the Café Gallery in 1995.

It has been exhibited at the SBK Kunstcentrum Haarlem (The Netherlands), and elsewhere.
Ruiter, who was project-oriented and tended to work in series, published and exhibited widely during his lifetime, in Europe, the U.S., Japan, and elsewhere. His works are included in many public and private collections. |
